An epidemic of sudden “white blindness” devastates a city, forcing the first victims into an abandoned asylum where the blind community descends into chaos. Criminals and the strong dominate the weak, amid violence and deprivation. The only sighted person, a woman follows her husband into quarantine and leads a small group of survivors through the ruins of a now-defunct civilization.
