A young plastic surgery intern discovers a new type of safe breast implant and convinces his supervisor to try them on a volunteer. The operation marks the beginning of a huge economic success with the spread of cosmetic breast surgery in America. But the two doctors go their separate ways: one becomes obsessed with excess, while the other remains faithful to a more sober and scientific approach.
