DAU is one of the most ambitious and controversial Russian film projects ever undertaken. A Russian director recreated a Soviet-style institution in Ukraine where hundreds of actors lived for years as if they were truly in the USSR, generating 700 hours of footage. From that material, 14 films were produced that explore life under the Soviet regime. DAU. Degeneration is the first film to be released, but chronologically it is one of the last in the timeline. It serves as the climax and conclusion of the saga. The story takes place between 1966 and 1968. After the death of physicist Landau, KGB General Azhippo takes control of the secret institute.
In the film’s over six-hour runtime, there is also room for nude actresses. The first to undress is Kristina Voloshina, at the 114-minute mark, while she makes out with a man on the couch. Two hours later, we see Kristina Babich naked as she has sex in bed with a man. At the 317-minute mark, Victoria Skitskaya has doggy-style sex with a man who holds her by the hair.
