Directed by Zack Snyder, the film is a remake of the famous 1978 film Dawn of the Dead by director George A. Romero. Compared to the original, it introduces faster zombies and does not provide an explicit explanation for the origin of the epidemic that transforms the population into ravenous zombies, forcing a group of survivors to take refuge inside a shopping mall. Amidst sieges, internal conflicts, and desperate attempts to escape, tension builds to an extreme fight for survival. The apparent refuge soon proves to be a trap with no way out.
