The Diary of Beloved Wife series (original title: Aisai Nikki – 愛妻日記) is a collection of Japanese erotic films produced in 2006. It is part of the Pinku Eiga (Pink Film) genre, but with one distinctive feature: it is an anthology series based on the stories of writer Kiyoshi Shigematsu. Unlike the classic Pinku Eiga films of the 1970s (often focused on violence or excess), this series focuses on a more introspective, melancholic, and domestic eroticism. The central theme is the relationship between couples. Although they are low-budget erotic films, the series is interesting because it involved cult directors from independent cinema. In Diary of Beloved Wife: Naive (Dôshin), the protagonist Yoko (Shôko Nakahara) lives a monotonous life with her husband Shinichi, who has become predictable even in bed, and her son Junichi. When the guy leaves for a New Year’s study camp and suggests that his parents spend the holidays alone, Yoko and Shinichi suddenly find themselves without their usual family balance.
