At the beginning of the 20th century, Viennese painter Egon Schiele lived and worked in a climate of unrest, inspired by the women around him and an era coming to an end. Among the most influential figures were his sister Gerti (Maresi Riegner) and the young Wally (Valerie Pachner), a deep bond that Schiele portrayed in his famous painting “Death and the Maiden.” While his provocative works scandalized Vienna but fascinated artists such as Gustav Klimt, Schiele pushed art beyond all limits, sacrificing his feelings and serenity.
