A psychiatrist must assess whether inmate Victor Frank is mentally fit to stand trial for murder, but he gives up on the task in frustration. The director of the institute, Dr. Walton, then decides to hear his story directly. Frank recounts his experiments with nanobots capable of regenerating the human body, until one of the healed patients begins to exhibit increasingly disturbing behavior.
