Hal Hartley is one of the most original directors in American independent cinema, and his tragicomic trilogy, comprising Henry Fool, Fay Grim, and Ned Rifle, is considered his masterpiece. Three completely distinct films, made over the span of nearly a generation, that tackle different subjects in different styles, yet all center on the same eccentric family. Henry Fool tells the story of a witty but untalented novelist who befriends garbage collector Simon Grim and seduces his sister Fay (Parker Posey), with whom he has a son named Ned.
