The first season of Highlander: The Series introduces Duncan MacLeod, a Scottish immortal and relative of Connor, the protagonist of the 1986 film. To make the series possible, the writers ignored the film‘s ending, where Connor was the last immortal, thus creating an alternative narrative. Connor still appears in the first episode to pass the torch to Duncan. Alternating between the present and flashbacks, the season recounts Duncan’s past and his relationship with his partner Tessa (Alexandra Vandernoot), creating a balance between spectacular duels and personal stories.
