The wealthy Edward falls in love with the voice of Anna (Jacqueline McKenzie), the soloist of a choir raising funds for a trip to China, and begins donating money to the cause in exchange for her posing for some of his drawings. Although their relationship remains platonic, the growing intimacy between them begins to create tension at Anna’s home, where she lives with David, a frustrated artist.
