Into the Blue 2: The Reef is not a true sequel to the first film: it completely changes the protagonists, setting, and plot. It is linked only by the common theme of diving, treasure hunting, and the risks associated with deception and crime. In Honolulu, diver Sebastian and his girlfriend Dani (Laura Vandervoort) run a modest snorkeling tour, dreaming of finding the legendary treasure of the Spanish galleon San Cristobal. A wealthy businessman, Carlton, and the mysterious Azra hire them to explore the seabed, promising enormous riches. But behind the offer lie hidden agendas that drag the couple into a game much more dangerous than expected.
