In 1915, the wealthy Armenian Avakian family tries to regain unity and serenity when their eldest son, Assadur, returns from Italy to reopen the Masseria delle Allodole farm. But the Armenian genocide upsets everything: the men of the family are massacred and the women deported on a long march to the desert. Among them is Nunik, the patriarch’s young granddaughter, who faces a tragic fate as the war finally destroys the hopes of the Armenian community.
