In La Piedad (Piety), the unhealthy relationship between Mateo and his mother Libertad (Ángela Molina) explodes when the guy is diagnosed with cancer and his mother’s obsession turns into total control. While Mateo tries to assert his identity, Libertad fights his rebellion as a personal threat, dragging them both into a spiral of emotional dependence and destruction.
