In Trebbiate, a fictional town in the Milanese hinterland, police commissioner Viola Mantovani investigates the death of a young woman from an overdose. The arrival of inspector Benevento changes the direction of the investigation, shifting suspicion towards the powerful Marruso family, linked to the ‘Ndrangheta. Meanwhile, Carmine Marruso plots to close the factory where Viola’s father works.
