Jonathan is a shy student in 1950s Ohio who desperately tries to win over the girl of his dreams, the wealthy Marilyn (Kelly Preston). With the help of his new, outgoing friend Gene, the guy tries to overcome his insecurities and learn the secrets of seduction, eventually getting caught up in a series of whimsical youthful adventures involving romance and high school graduation exams.
