Pennies from Heaven (1981)

Pennies from Heaven is set in Chicago during the Great Depression and follows a street vendor who sells sheet music and is trapped in an unhappy marriage. To escape his bleak reality, the man takes refuge in elaborate daydreams filled with music and embarks on a turbulent and tragic romance with an innocent schoolteacher. The film blends drama with lip-synced musical numbers set to the era’s greatest hits, offering a unique and melancholic portrayal of the stark contrast between the escapism of dreams and the harsh reality of real-life problems.
At the 44-minute mark, Jessica Harper is standing in front of a man. She opens her robe and unbuttons her slip, revealing her breasts to him. At the 87-minute mark, Bernadette Peters, wearing a black bra, talks to a man while getting dressed.
