Giuseppe Cicerchia, known as “the womanizer,” capitalizes on his reputation as a healer in a mountain village by boasting of his connections with Saint Pasquale Baylonne, amid rituals, fake exorcisms, and his rivalry with the magician Samuel of Bagnacavallo. Although he manages to avoid arrest by accidentally solving the theft of stamps from the village general store, he is tormented by diabolical visions that convince him he is possessed.
