In the 22nd century, the medical spaceship Nightingale 229 responds to a distress call from a distant galaxy. The crew, led by Captain Markley and co-pilot Vanzant, finds a single survivor: young Troy Larson. With him, they bring on board an enigmatic alien artifact that will trigger unpredictable consequences.
