California Gurls

Directed By: Mathew Cullen

Nudometer:
California Gurls is one of Katy Perry‘s most iconic songs, released in 2010 as the lead single from her second mainstream album, Teenage Dream. The song, featuring Snoop Dogg, is a pop-dance anthem dedicated to the carefree and sensual Californian girls, with an irresistible chorus and a summery sound. The music video, directed by Mathew Cullen, is set in a fantasy world called Candyfornia, a psychedelic universe made of sweets, rainbows, and sugary landscapes.
One of the most famous scenes in the video shows Katy Perry naked, lying on a cloud of cotton candy, covered only by sweets, in an ironically provocative and dreamlike pose. Towards the end of the clip, the singer seduces us with red lingerie and two cans of whipped cream that she places on her breasts and sprays.
