Cien años de soledad (AKA One Hundred Years of Solitude) tells the saga of the Buendía family, beginning with cousins José Arcadio Buendía and Úrsula Iguarán, who marry against their families’ wishes. They flee their village and, accompanied by friends and adventurers, found the utopian city of Macondo along a river of prehistoric stones. Through the generations, the Buendía face impossible loves, absurd wars, and a curse that condemns them to a century of loneliness.
