City of Hope portrays an American city of today, torn between economic interests and social tensions. An old building stands in the way of a housing project, and developer Joe Rinaldi is driven to destroy it. Meanwhile, his son Nick becomes embroiled in a web of corruption, political strife, and racial conflict.
