Mary Alice Young, a seemingly perfect housewife, commits suicide out of fear that a dark secret involving her, her husband, and her son will be uncovered. Her four friends and neighbors, Susan (Teri Hatcher), Lynette (Felicity Huffman), Bree (Marcia Cross), and Gabrielle (Eva Longoria), try to uncover the reason behind her actions while dealing with the problems in their own personal lives on Wisteria Lane. The events are narrated by Mary Alice herself, who tells the story from beyond the grave.
