With Dr. Caligari, director Stephen Sayadian presents a rewrite of one of the great classics of German expressionist cinema, Robert Wiene’s Das Cabinet des Dr. Caligari. Sayadian stages Dr. Caligari, niece of the 1920 film’s protagonist, who runs a clinic specializing in sexual diseases. To her comes a husband in despair because his wife (Laura Albert) suffers from nymphomania.
In the fifth minute Laura Albert drops a towel that was wrapped around her and shows us a nice pair of breasts. The actress sits on the edge of a full bathtub. Some kind of doll-headed man comes out of the water, armed with a razor, and she runs away. A minute later the doll man is having sex with Laura Albert and the two are spied on by… Laura Albert. In the next scene Laura is sitting in front of a television set. She is wearing a see-through bra, but she quickly takes it off, then lies on the floor and massages her naked body. No nude scene for thirteen minutes, then Laura Albert returns wearing a tight, transparent yellow tank top. Soon after, the actress sits in front of a wall with a giant mouth. A tongue comes out of the mouth, and Laura plays with the tongue and pulls down her tank top to caress her breasts. Half an hour later Nina DePonca in topless is sitting on a black floor.
