Paris, 1931. Anaïs Nin meets Henry Miller and his wife June. Together with them and her husband, Anaïs begins to expand her sexual horizons. Meanwhile, Miller is writing his most important work: Tropic of Cancer.
In the movie Henry & June there are two very interesting actresses: Brigitte Lahaie, one of the queens of softcore / hardocre cinema, and the beautiful Uma Thurman. The first plays a prostitute, the second is June, Miller’s wife. And then there is Maria De Medeiros, in the role of Anaïs Nin.
There are many interesting sequences, including some beautiful lesbian scenes. The first nude scene is at minute 24, when the curtains of a brothel open and among the many prostitutes, the camera lingers on Brigitte Lahaie, who is wearing a see-through dress and walking up the stairs with a customer. We have to wait twenty-seven minutes, then we watch a sex scene with Maria de Medeiros. She is lying on her back with a man on top of her. She’s wearing a red dress, but her breasts have popped out of her cleavage. The next scene has Maria de Medeiros naked, lying on the bed, with a man sleeping next to her. Twenty-one minutes later Maria de Medeiros is fucking a man in a bed. After sex, the woman gets up and we watch her walk naked to the window, then she turns back to us. Six minutes later we return to the brothel, where Maria de Medeiros pays two prostitutes (Brigitte Lahaie and Maïté Maillé) to perform lesbian intercourse while she watches and gets aroused. Still aroused by the performance, later Maria de Medeiros is having sapphic sex with Uma Thurman, but she imagines doing it with Brigitte Lahaie. Two minutes later we witness a brief sequence with two naked contortionists, Erika Maury-Lascoux and Claire Joubert. Shortly thereafter, Maria de Medeiros wears a very exciting sheer black lace dress. In fact, as soon as her man sees her, he wants to have sex with her. In the following scene, the actress kisses a man in a garden. He opens her robe and caresses her breasts. The last hot scene in the film is offered to us by Maria de Medeiros and Uma Thurman, who kiss and caress each other in a bed.
