In 2013, director Alejandro Jodorowsky made a film based on his autobiography written several years earlier. The main characters live in Tocopilla, a small town in the Chilean desert populated by poor people. Jodorowsky narrates his relationship with his Stalinist father and his Jewish-Ukrainian mother, played by soprano Pamela Flores.
