Sacheen Littlefeather Nude

Sacheen Littlefeather, born Marie Louise Cruz in 1946, was a Native American rights activist and actress of Apache and Yaqui heritage. She gained international attention in 1973 when she declined Marlon Brando’s Oscar to protest Hollywood’s portrayal of Native peoples. The act led to her professional ostracism but brought awareness to Indigenous issues. She remained a strong advocate for Native culture and rights throughout her life. She passed away in 2022, shortly after receiving an official apology from the Academy.
