Rona (Saoirse Ronan) is fresh out of rehab and back in the Orkney Islands, a wild and fascinating place off the Scottish coast where she lived the first years of her life. After more than a decade living on the edge in London, where she found and lost love, the girl – now in her 30s – tries to come to terms with her troubled past.
