Sydney Sweeney, an actress known for her roles in Euphoria and The White Lotus (and not only those), recently shared her experiences regarding nude scenes on set.
The actress has often performed nude scenes and has developed her own perspective on the relationship between actor identity and public perception.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Sydney Sweeney expressed frustration at how audiences often confuse the character with the real person. “People forget that I’m playing a character, they think, ‘Oh, she gets naked onscreen, she’s a sex symbol,'” Sidney said. “And I can’t get past that. I have no problems with those scenes, and I won’t stop doing them, but I wish there was an easier way to have an open conversation about what we’re assuming about actors in the industry.”
Sweeney praised the introduction of intimacy coordinators on sets, comparing them to stunt coordinators for the safety of actors in nude scenes.
Despite her success, the actress described feeling like an outsider in Hollywood, highlighting the competitive and often closed nature of the film industry.
