Set during World War II, the film follows American pilot Yossarian, who is obsessed with surviving as the army continues to increase the number of mandatory missions. Trapped by a bureaucratic paradox – the “Catch-22” – he realizes that the madness of war is surpassed only by that of the military system itself.
