In a Vatican crypt, biologist Adam conducts a secret experiment to prove that in the origin of time there was a single being who split into two sexes. Under the influence of an alchemical potion, Adam becomes delirious and convinced that he is the reincarnation of Eve, losing control like Dr. Jekyll with Mr. Hyde. With the help of his assistant and theologian Father Benjamin, he desperately tries to find an antidote, risking his life.
