1981. Gloria Grahame (Annette Bening), a 58-year-old former Hollywood diva, is on tour in England when, suffering from what she describes as “indigestion,” she reconnects with Peter, a 30-year-old British actor with whom she had a troubled relationship. Welcomed into his family home, it becomes clear that her condition is serious, and as Peter struggles between affection and a sense of duty, memories of their relationship and Gloria’s turbulent past resurface.
