Le bal des folles (AKA The Mad Women’s Ball) follows the story of Eugénie (Lou de Laâge), a girl who can see and hear the dead. Upon discovering her secret, her family locks her up in the neurological clinic at the Pitié Salpêtrière, under the supervision of the famous Professor Charcot. Here, as she searches for a way out, she faces the fate imposed on women considered “different.”
In the nineteenth minute we admire Lou de Laâge naked, reading a book while immersed in a bathtub. At the twenty-seventh minute the actress is totally naked and sitting on a chair in the center of a room while a woman gives her a medical examination. In the thirty-sixth minute Coralie Russier appears totally naked while in a room with other women bathing, then the camera pans to Martine Schambacher, bent over a tub of water. Several other women are partially nude. We see Lou de Laâge totally naked again in the 48th minute, when two nurses help her undress and step into a tub of icy water. A minute later Coralie Russier emerges from a tub and also shows us a full-frontal nude.
