Ursula (Brigitte Bardot) leaves the convent to live with her uncle and aunt, finding herself embroiled in a local drama when Lambert accuses the count of assaulting his sister. After a duel of honour and a series of revelations, Ursula falls in love with Lambert but discovers that he is her aunt’s secret lover. When Lambert kills her uncle after another altercation, Ursula helps him escape while her aunt, mad with jealousy, searches for him with the help of the police.
