Of Freaks and Men (original title: Pro urodov i lyudey) is a 1998 Russian comedy-drama directed by Aleksei Balabanov. At the beginning of the 20th century, two seemingly prosperous families come into contact with the mysterious Johann, the owner of a photography studio. In the basement, Johann has set up a peculiar photographic theater in honor of the Marquis de Sade, where postcards with humiliated naked bodies are made. Johann destroys the serenity of families and turns ordinary people into victims of vice.
