Pepe Carvalho, born José Carvalho Tourón, worked for four years as a CIA agent, then decided to become a private investigator. He lives in Barcelona, loves good food and beautiful women. He has a complicated emotional relationship with a prostitute named Charo and several sexual adventures with other women. Carvalho is a literary character, created by the writer Manuel Vázquez Montalbán. He has been shown in the cinema and on television many times, starting from the 1970s. The first film dedicated to him was Tatuaje, by director Bigas Luna.
