Scacco alla regina (International titles are Check to the Queen and The Slave) is an elegant erotic film; a very interesting work of the lounge-cinema from the late 60’s. A bored rich woman gets hired as a slave by a spoiled actress. The director Pasquale Festa Campanile gives us many intriguing sequences without ever transcending the vulgar. The relationship between mistress and slave, with lesbian and sadomasochistic implications, is outlined without excess.
Haydée Politoff offers us several nude scenes, including a sequence in which she plays a garden statue, completely naked and covered with white stucco.
Rosanna Schiaffino plays the mistress and strips less than her, but she still lets us admire her beautiful body.
