The long original title of the film is L’asino d’oro: processo per fatti strani contro Lucius Apuleius cittadino romano. Based on two works by Apuleius, “The Metamorphoses” (also known as “The Golden Ass”) and “Apologia,” the film recounts the misadventures of young Roman Lucius Apuleius and his friend Aristomenes in ancient Mauritania.
In the eighteenth minute, in an extremely brief sequence, a young, brunette Barbara Bouchet complains about the heat and lifts her white tunic, showing her breasts to onlookers. In the twenty-sixth minute, the actress accompanies a man to her bedroom. He removes her dress and she remains topless, then lies on the bed. In the thirty-fourth minute a beautiful actress credited as Nebdi undresses in front of two catatonic-looking men, whom she shortly afterwards transforms into a donkey and a pig, respectively. In the fifty-third minute we admire Barbara Bouchet naked while having sex with a man. In this sequence the actress is blond. At the ninety-first minute Barbara is talking in front of some men. One strap of her dress comes off and a breast is exposed. Just before the end, Barbara Bouchet smiles on camera and wears a semi-transparent white dress. Her breasts are perfectly visible.
