Prigione di donne (AKA Riot in a Women’s Prison) is an Italian WIP (Women in Prison) by Brunello Rondi. Incarcerated women are not a mere pretext for showing us naked actresses and lesbian scenes as with most films in this vein. There is also a critique of the women’s prison system and its management. A French tourist on vacation in Italy (Martine Brochard) is arrested for a crime she did not commit and finds herself incarcerated in a hellish women’s prison where inmates are subjected to mental and physical torture by staff. Inevitably, a riot breaks out.
Around the third minute of the film Martine Brochard undresses in front of two female prison guards, who give her a body inspection. Eleven minutes later Katia Christine (credited as Katia Kristine) undresses while arguing with her cellmates. We see Katia Christine naked again seven minutes later as she argues with a group of female inmates. Two minutes later a group of nude actresses are showering. Among them are Marilù Tolo, Martine Brochard, Aliza Adar, and Isabelle De Valvert. Thirteen minutes later Marilù Tolo is sitting in the courtyard, lifting her skirt and massaging her breasts to arouse a military man. In the next scene Isabelle De Valvert dances in the prison yard among other women while undressing. Three minutes later we admire Cristina Galbó naked after a group of women tear her clothes off.
