In the film The Girlfriend Experience, Chelsea (Sasha Grey) is a high-class escort in Manhattan who, for $2,000 an hour, offers a “girlfriend” experience, accompanying clients to dinners and movies and listening to their problems before engaging in sex. In October 2008, with the economic crisis and presidential elections looming, she tries to manage her work, website, and public image while maintaining her relationship with her boyfriend Chris. An encounter with a charming writer from Los Angeles prompts her to consider breaking her own rules, risking her relationship and the delicate balance of her life.
