In 1996, an expedition searches the wreck of the Titanic for a precious diamond, but instead discovers a drawing of a young woman. An elderly survivor, Rose, comes forward and tells her story. In 1912, the young aristocrat Rose (Kate Winslet) falls in love with the poor artist Jack aboard the Titanic, the luxurious ocean liner on its maiden voyage. Their love story defies social barriers but is cut short by the tragic collision with an iceberg.
At the 85-minute mark, Kate Winslet enters a room wearing a semi-transparent black robe. She lets it fall, revealing her totally naked body to a guy sitting in front of her, then lies down on a sofa to have her portrait drawn. The guy starts sketching. In the open matte version of the film, we get to see a lot more naked skin than in the theatrical version.
