In the first season of La trêve (The Break), the body of a young African soccer player is found in a river near the village of Heiderfeld. Inspector Yoann Peeters, recently transferred from Brussels, investigates what initially appears to be a suicide. But soon buried secrets and community tensions surface, turning the case into a complex puzzle.
