Le salamandre is a film by Alberto Cavallone who addressed the racial issue already in 1969, even if – prophetically – it presaged that it would still be debated for a long time.
An African American model has a lesbian relationship with a photographer to succeed in the privileged world of white people, but she will not be able to overcome the racial problem even by accepting this compromise.
Beryl Cunningham and Erna Schurer interpret the model and the photographer and give us some very intriguing sequences. We can also admire a nude by Michelle Stamp, an interesting actress who only starred in a couple of films, both shot by Alberto Cavallone (this and Dal nostro inviato a Copenaghen).
