In 1977 Me siento extraña was released in Spain, a lesbian love story between Marta, played by the well-known actress Bárbara Rey and Laura, played by the singer Rocío Dúrcal. The film is the first to openly and explicitly show a relationship between two women in Spanish cinema. For this reason and for its bold and courageous political outlook, the film was a great success, but was also covered in controversy, in a Spain that had just left Francoism behind. The singer Rocío Dúrcal said she regretted starring in the film and stopped acting for good (except for a part in a fiction 20 years later).
In the twentieth minute Rocío Dúrcal is lying on the bed with an unbuttoned shirt revealing part of her breasts. She is smoking a cigarette and suddenly gets up and goes to the window. Outside, in the night, is Bárbara Rey totally naked by the pool. Fourteen minutes later Bárbara Rey has sex with a man in a short sequence. After another fourteen minutes Rocío Dúrcal is making out with a man and he puts his hand under her shirt to grab one of her breasts. Shortly after, the two have sex on the bed. Thirty-two minutes later we witness the long lesbian scene with the two actresses that closes the film.
