Director Lucio Fulci, tormented by nightmares inspired by his violent film scenes, undergoes hypnosis by Dr. Schwarz to deal with his ailments. Meanwhile, a series of murders disrupts the real world…
By the late 1980s, Italian genre cinema was in a crisis. Some movie theaters have closed and overseas films increasingly rich in effects and technology are being made. Some directors try to make products for television, such as the film series “Lucio Fulci Presents”, which was conceived for television but rejected because it was excessively violent. The films are later distributed in the home video market, but when Lucio Fulci makes Un gatto nel cervello (AKA A Cat in the Brain) they are virtually all unreleased. For this reason, the director uses various clips from these films to include in his own.
In the fifteenth minute Malisa Longo (credited as Melissa Lang) is lying in bed reading a magazine. A man approaches the bed and she turns to talk to him. A boob comes out of her babydoll. This of Malisa Longo is the only original nude in the film. Five minutes later, we see Teresa Razzaudi naked together with a man as the director directs them. This is a sequence taken from Sodoma’s Ghost. Twenty-five minutes later, the director spies his neighbor (Silvia Conti) through the window. She notices and blinks, then improvises a striptease. The scene is from director Andrea Bianchi’s film Massacre. Five minutes later there is another scene taken from Massacre: Manya having sex with a man in a car in the middle of a forest at night. Fifteen minutes later we find Jessica Moore naked in the shower. The scene is from the movie Non avere paura della zia Marta.
